1. Introduction
Big Mart (“Jindhan”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates www.jindhan.com and related applications (together, the “Platform”), through which individuals can apply for personal and business loans and be connected with our partner banks and non-banking financial companies (“Lending Partners”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies whether you reach the Platform directly, or arrive through a link shared by one of our referral partners (“Referral Partners”).
By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Contact details: full name, mobile number
- Identity and eligibility details: Permanent Account Number (PAN), date of birth, PIN code, employment type (salaried or self-employed)
- Income details: monthly income (salaried applicants) or annual turnover and years in business (self-employed applicants), employer or business name
- Loan preferences: the type of loan you are applying for and the offer you select
- Any other information you choose to provide while communicating with us, such as through customer support
2.2 Information received about you from a Referral Partner
If you arrive on the Platform through a link from a Referral Partner (for example, a website or app that has already collected and verified your mobile number), that partner may transmit your name, mobile number, PAN, date of birth, PIN code, employment and income details, and loan preference to us directly through our Partner Lead API, so that you do not need to re-enter this information or re-verify your mobile number on our site. We treat this information the same way as information you provide to us directly.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Log and device information such as IP address, browser type, and access times
- Cookies and similar technologies used to keep you signed in during your session and to understand how the Platform is used (see Section 8)
2.4 Information we may collect in the future, with your consent
We may, in the future, perform a soft-pull credit bureau check (for example, with CIBIL or another licensed credit information company) to assess your loan eligibility and present more accurate offers. Where this feature is enabled, we will only perform such a check after obtaining your specific consent at the relevant step of the journey, and this Policy will be updated to describe what bureau data is retrieved and how it is used.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To verify your mobile number through One-Time Password (OTP) authentication, or to recognize you as pre-verified when referred by a Referral Partner
- To create and maintain your loan application, and to let you resume an in-progress application from where you left off
- To assess your eligibility and share your application with one or more Lending Partners so they can generate indicative loan offers for you
- To detect and prevent duplicate, fraudulent, or unauthorized applications — for example, flagging when the same mobile number or PAN is submitted through more than one source
- To communicate with you about your application status, respond to queries, and provide customer support
- To maintain the security of the Platform, including detecting and preventing misuse
- To comply with applicable law, regulation, or a valid request from a government or regulatory authority
- With your specific consent, to perform a credit bureau soft-pull as described in Section 2.4
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We collect and process your personal information on the basis of your consent (given when you submit your details or verify your mobile number via OTP, or given by a Referral Partner’s prior verification on your behalf), and where necessary to take steps at your request before connecting you with a Lending Partner, and to comply with our legal obligations, in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable Indian law.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following circumstances:
- With Lending Partners (banks and NBFCs) so that they can evaluate your application and present you with loan offers
- With Referral Partners, limited to confirming the status of a lead they referred to us and, where applicable, notifying them of a duplicate submission attempt as described in Section 3
- With service providers who host our infrastructure and process data on our behalf (for example, our cloud hosting and database providers), under obligations of confidentiality and only to the extent needed to provide the Platform
- With regulators, law enforcement, or courts, where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy continuing to apply to your information
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your application remains active or resumable, and thereafter for as long as necessary to comply with our legal, regulatory, accounting, or reporting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.
7. Data Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information, including:
- OTP-based mobile number verification and authenticated, single-use resume links, so an application can only be accessed by the person who verified that mobile number
- Encrypted transmission of data between your device and our servers
- Access controls that restrict who can view or modify application data, both internally and at the database level
- Rate-limiting and lockout protections against repeated or automated verification attempts
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to operate the Platform, such as keeping you signed in during an active session, and, where enabled, to understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve the Platform. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Platform from working correctly.
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request erasure of your personal information, subject to our legal and legitimate business retention needs
- Withdraw consent you previously gave, where processing is based on consent (this will not affect processing carried out before withdrawal, and may mean we can no longer process your loan application)
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity
- Lodge a grievance with our Grievance Officer (Section 12), and thereafter with the applicable regulatory authority
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 12.
10. Children’s Information
The Platform is intended for use by individuals who are at least 18 years old and eligible to enter into a loan agreement under Indian law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to, or be linked from, the websites of Lending Partners, Referral Partners, or other third parties. This Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.
